Our Story

Ben Rayner Custom Woodwork is the creation of Ben Rayner and his wife Jenny. We are based at a workshop near Cambridge.

Ben has over 18 years experience in the creation of bespoke woodwork and antique restoration.

In the late 1990’s, Ben studied Guitar Making at London Guildhall. After a period of building and repairing guitars, he moved on to a company specializing in piano restoration where he worked for the next 8 years.

At the start of 2012, Ben decided to move away from piano restoration and start a business that would allow him to work on a wider variety of projects, not solely musical instruments.

As a team, Ben and Jenny started to design furniture for their new customers. These have included dining tables, a standing desk, jewellery and fitted cabinets.

They have also restored a number of pieces including numerous snooker tables and scoreboards, chairs, a linen press and other items of furniture.

Whether it’s a restoration project or a custom piece, for Ben and Jenny the customers’ individual requirements are always the starting point. If you are interested in finding out more about how Ben Rayner Custom Woodwork could create that much needed item of furniture or bring a well loved piece back to life, we would love to hear from you.
